I'm back and I'm married!!

It has been an adjustment being married and living in a new place and being responsible for buying all the food and cooking for my husband and I. I work part-time, but I work 29 hours a week which can sometimes feel like full-time. I have not had the opportunity to do meal planning or work out due to using my spare time for organizing and daily cleaning tasks.
The other night I made myself a healthy dinner with what was left in the fridge and needed to be eaten.

I used Kale and Zucchini and green Peppers. It was a lot of green, but it was so good.

Then I took our left over Kale and made Kale chips using this recipe. They came out a little crisp because I didn't set the time right...but they are still so good! It is so interesting how Kale can be so bitter raw, but when cooked in many different ways it becomes sweet :)

Now, I am working on setting up a schedule for myself for working out. I don't have my treadmill anymore or my weights, but I have all my work videos like Turbo Fire and I plan on using them more soon.

Thank you for viewing my blog...say tuned for more updates as the Healthy First Kiss Girl get's herself on track in this new chapter of life!

God bless and may you choose your food well :)

Just sharing some progress...

  • I have been drinking a glass of water at least upon waking up, at lunch, before I'm off work, and before bed.
  • I have taken breads and pasta out of my diet this week.
  • I have been having detox tea before bed most nights.
  • Limiting my diet to healthy, smaller meals.

I feel pretty good because of the water. And I don't really miss bread or pasta :)

I can do it! :)

Oh, sweets

Recently, I have been pretty much giving up sweets gradually. On an average day, I avoid them completely. When a craving comes up I grab a protein or just down a bunch of water. It has been working and today I had a funny experience. Through a tiny bit of stress I all of a sudden thought of a doughnut, but right as my brain was about to say "ugh, I want a doughnut!!!" I pretty much remembered how disappointed I am every time I eat a doughnut. It seems like the anticipation of consuming it is stronger than the actual satisfaction afterwards for me. I am not a big cake person, and a doughnut is like cake. My eyes are often more tempted than my stomach.
All of a sudden I did not want a doughnut anymore and I didn't even want to think about it (it grossed me out to be honest).

I wouldn't say that I'm dieting, or that a diet is "working". I would say that I have decided to eat things that make me feel good...and sweets just don't make me feel good...so now that my mindset is changing, I am now eating healthy and I feel really good :) I am breaking the emotional attachment to food. Only a limited amount of times have I actually "craved" anything and most of the time it has been craving yogurt, kale, water and fruit. I slip up a few times and allow myself a piece of chocolate or chip every once in a while, but I try to figure out why I want that thing because normally when I crave something like chips it's purely just for craving sodium, something my body needs some of. So I am really working hard to get to know my body.

It is possible to change the way you eat. But it has to be your decision. Your body doesn't "crave" things...you tell your body what to eat...you're the one who chooses the menu...you're in control of it...you tell it what to do. It's isn't the food's fault. Get to know your body and it's needs, rather than your wants.

Let's take responsibility and care for this body God has given us. I for one, want to feel good...and I've been studying and researching myself and information on how to do that.

Why do we eat unhealthy foods...

This is a great article!

Healthy attitude

Being healthy is only as good as our attitude about things. Yeah, we can follow a diet, or even have a personal trainer, but it's when we decide for ourselves to change our attitude when things start getting really healthy. :) no one can change you...you're the one held accountable. Figure it out and go for it :)

Just sharing

I have not been able to make my "Breakfast Things" in a few weeks...so I've been having to be creative with breakfast. While I'm not really "dieting" right now, I tend to feel better when I eat better things.

It's lunch time now at work and I'd like to give some info on my day of food to hopefully encourage those of you who want to eat right. Keep in mind I'm not perfect...I'm just sharing with you :)

Breakfast:
☕Coffee and creamer
🚙Nature valley peanut butter protein bar
🐓Hard boiled egg

No matter where you are...the sun never stop shining no matter how many cloud block your sight of it. The same is true about God, He is there, He's always been there even if sometimes you feel like you can't see Him. ⛅

Being Healthy

I think that this new healthy thing that we are reading about and seeing commercials for and reading things on Facebook has a lot to do with our mental health. How we view ourselves, how we view others, and how we view life in general.

Being healthy is a huge need in our culture today. We can eat all the healthy foods and use the best vitamins, but if our mentality isn't healthy we are still susceptible to being depressed and unhealthy. Just like the way Christians live their lives, it's starts with the heart. What does our heart want and desire, what does it see in things, how do we feel. Feelings can have a tendency to lead us astray and overpower us, but they are also a part of our being, they are going to happen and they can be good. Once again, I believe this has a lot to do with our mental state and our heart.

So today, whatever is going on, whatever you are eating or whoever you are coming in contact with, think about your healthy mentality and your healthy heart. Other things tend to go a whole lot better when we decide in our core how we are going to be.

God bless
